An interesting read (217K PDF), though a lot of the CS is way beyond me

I recently had to complete an online pre-orientation course for my teaching job in Korea. The first part of the course was a little dull, but it got more interesting and I really enjoyed the later stages. I wanted to share here a few screenshots and some quotations which I find very interesting, when thinking about what it says about Korean culture that the Korean authors of the course wrote what they did about their own country.
I’ve written before that I feel weighed down by the stuff that I own because I feel responsible for it. We’re not talking buyer’s remorse about gadgets, smartphones etc. now since I don’t have anything like that (just a three-year-old e-reader, a four-year-old laptop and a six-year-old computer), but simply the worry that I have to take care of loads and loads of possessions. So this summer I’m attempting a massive clear out. Also good since I’m off to Korea for a year and don’t want to leave my parents with loads of stuff.
Forget dodgy addons that locked up my browser for about a minute per
screenshot taken. Turns out Firefox has the capacity build in. Type
shift-F2
to open the terminal and then use #BEGINSRC nil
screenshot ~/tmp/page.png #ENDSRC or
screenshot --fullpage ~/tmp/page.png
Really useful to have learnt about this when grabbing stat blocks from the Pathfinder SRD for session notes.
I am steadily getting angrier this evening as I realise I have not sorted e-mail. By this I mean minimising the time e-mail takes in my life while having it still be useful. This is for two reasons. Firstly, it’s still taking ages despite me not even having a job or a degree course to do at the moment. And secondly, I think I’m going to have to change mail clients again.
